Discover Albania

This 8-day tour takes you to discover northern Albania, between sea, mountains, and culture. Explore the protected Kune-Vain lagoon, share the daily life of a local family, then set off on an adventure in the Albanian Alps with hikes to the Blue Eye and the Grunas Waterfall.

Sail across Lake Koman, with its fjord-like scenery, stay in the heart of Valbona National Park, and discover the cultural heritage of Shkodra and Tirana. An authentic itinerary combining spectacular nature, local gastronomy, and off-the-beaten-path experiences.

Day 2 – Ishull Lezhë – Kune-Vain Lagoon

After breakfast, head toward the Kune-Vain Lagoon, the country’s first protected area since 1940.

There is the possibility to cycle around the lagoon, swim at an unspoiled beach, or even take a boat ride and observe Dalmatian pelicans, flamingos, ducks, and more.

Then you will be welcomed by a warm local family in a small fishing village, where you will enjoy delicious local cuisine made with 100% organic products. The afternoon is dedicated to an introduction to local life: – Exploration of the surroundings.

  • Picking various fruits and vegetables (depending on the season).
  • Taking part in cutting weeds along the lagoon’s banks so that the fishermen’s boats can reach the shore more easily.
  • Milking.
  • Learn to cook the Albanian way…

Dinner and overnight stay in Ishull Lezhë.

After breakfast, head toward the tourist village of Shiroka, located on the shores of Lake Shkodra (the largest lake in the Balkans).

There is the option to take a boat ride or go kayaking on the lake.

Lunch in Shirokë.

In the afternoon, head to the largest city in the north, the cradle of Albanian culture, Shkodra. Visit the Rozafa Castle, which will offer you superb views over the lake, the Drin River, and the Kir River.

Then you will admire the Venetian architecture in the city center, where you can visit the Marubi National Museum of Photography, the cathedral, the Venetian mask workshop, or even a 17th-century old bridge.

Dinner and overnight stay in a beautiful two-century-old house.
